Singaporean alt-pop darling shazza is back — raw, unfiltered, and unapologetically vulnerable — with the release of her second studio album, HAPPY, WRETCHED & TERRIFIED, out Friday, July 18, 2025, on all digital platforms.
Described by the artist as “coming-of-age in real time,” the nine-track album delves deep into the complexities of young adulthood. From heartbreak and healing to anger and desire, shazza doesn’t shy away from the messy contradictions of growing up. With her trademark emotional honesty and lyrical prowess, the album captures the emotional rollercoaster of one’s 20s in its purest form.
The album includes standout singles like the heartbreakingly beautiful “Perfume,” the strikingly dramatic ballad “MEDIEVAL,” and “Olivia Dean,” a catchy collaboration with fellow Singaporean artist Benjamin Kheng. With soaring anthems like “MAN ENOUGH” and confessional tracks like “Falling On My Own,” shazza explores everything from toxic masculinity to personal transformation.
Since the release of her debut album chapter one in 2023, shazza’s rise has been meteoric. She’s graced a Times Square billboard, earned praise from Coldplay’s Chris Martin, and recently represented Singapore at the Osaka World Expo 2025. Named to Forbes Asia’s 30 Under 30 this year, shazza continues to prove her artistic depth and global appeal.
Despite her success, shazza remains grounded in her music. She describes this album as both a cathartic journey and a lifeline: “It taught me how to embrace change, how to let go… Regardless of how this all goes and what’s to come, I am profoundly proud of this album, and I always will be.”
The title HAPPY, WRETCHED & TERRIFIED — a line pulled from the final track “I Let Somebody Go” — encapsulates the album’s emotional core: a portrait of someone caught between euphoria, despair, and fear, often feeling them all at once.
With a bold mix of emotional ballads and genre-blending pop production, HAPPY, WRETCHED & TERRIFIED is not just an album — it’s a soundtrack for anyone stumbling through the chaos of adulthood, learning to laugh, cry, and love through it all.
