GCash Financial Caravan Ilagan Farmers Gain Digital Financial Access
Over 500 farmers in Ilagan City, Isabela, now have new access to digital financial tools through the GCash Financial Caravan. The program aims to build financial health among farmers through practical education on savings, loans, and digital finance.

Hosted in partnership with the local government of Ilagan, the Barangay GCash event served as a one-stop financial hub. It featured learning sessions, consultations, and interactive booths that helped corn and rice farmers understand how to manage money better through GCash’s digital services.
Participants learned to grow their savings using the GSave Cebuana Lhuillier account and explored GLoan, a credit feature that can help finance farm inputs or emergencies. The caravan also introduced the GCash Pera Outlet Program, which allows users to become local agents and earn by providing GCash services in their communities.
Cybersecurity education was a core part of the event. The “Spot the Scam” activity taught farmers how to identify online fraud and protect their personal data. One of the most visited sections of the caravan was the financial consultation booth, where farmers openly discussed personal money challenges.
Prizes such as farming tools, smartphones, and GCash Tech Items were raffled off to encourage participation. Two attendees even received GPO Business Packages to help them start their own digital hubs.
GCash VP for Sustainability CJ Alegre said the program aims to make financial tools simple and accessible. “Financial literacy is the first step toward achieving financial health,” Alegre said. “With the right tools, farmers can secure their livelihood and build a stronger foundation for the future.”
The caravan in Ilagan adds to GCash’s ongoing effort to reach underserved sectors. Over 7,000 farmers nationwide have already benefited. More runs are planned in Metro Manila and other provinces.
