Chevron Creates Inclusive Spaces for PWDs during Volunteer Day 2025

Chevron Philippines Inc. and Caltex Makati Credit Cooperative teamed up with Guanella Center, Inc. to bond with beneficiaries who have special needs

Employees of Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex fuels and lubricants, and Caltex Makati Credit Cooperative (CMCC) partnered with non-government organization Guanella Center, Inc. to connect with persons with disabilities (PWDs) during Volunteer Day 2025, reinforcing Chevron’s commitment to diversity and inclusion for underserved sectors in the Philippines.

CPI and CMCC spent quality time with resident PWD beneficiaries through fun games and a shared meal. Volunteers presented beneficiaries with eco-friendly jute bags filled with essential apparel—shirts, shorts, and underwear—alongside Chevron-branded backpacks. The day was made even more memorable when the beneficiaries surprised volunteers with lively dance performances to “Golden” from the movie KPop Demon Hunters and NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye.”

According to Albert Ramos, Guanella Center Supervisor, the initiative helped beneficiaries develop social skills and connect with people beyond their home environment.

“This Volunteer Day is important because the beneficiaries are happy when they see new faces at Guanella Home. We hope volunteers realize that children with special needs also need care and compassion from people outside the shelter,” Ramos shared.

CMCC Chairperson Marife Jose echoed this sentiment, emphasizing Chevron’s and CMCC’s mission to empower people with special needs: “There’s a special place in our hearts for these individuals whose experiences in society are often marked by added challenges. We want them to feel valued and happy and let them know that there are people who care and respect them.”

Pongtorn “Bon” Tangmanuswong, newly appointed CPI General Manager and Country Manager, joined his first Volunteer Day in the Philippines and highlighted how music and food bridge connections across cultures.

“We want this advocacy to go beyond a one-day activity. It’s part of our mission to create inclusive spaces for everyone, regardless of background or circumstances. Our programs must continue to help people lead dignified, independent lives.”

Last year, CPI and CMCC partnered with My Children’s House of Hope Bahay Bata 127 Inc. to learn sign language and connect with deaf children, underscoring Chevron’s ongoing commitment to inclusion.
