Cebuana Lhuillier Philippine Tennis Development Drives Local Talent to International Triumphs
Tennis in the Philippines is rising fast. Inspired by players like Alex Eala, more young Filipinos are picking up their rackets, chasing dreams of global victory. Behind this movement is Cebuana Lhuillier, led by President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, a long-time champion of tennis development and President of United Tennis Philippines (UTP).

Long before tennis captured national attention, Cebuana Lhuillier was already building its foundation. The company’s nationwide Age Group Tennis Program has nurtured athletes aged 18 and below, giving them competition experience and exposure to the discipline needed for international play. These programs are shaping the country’s tennis future.
“I have always believed in Filipino talent,” said Lhuillier. “Now the world is seeing what we’ve known for years. Filipinos can compete at the highest level. We will continue to discover and support more players who will carry our flag with pride.”
Cebuana Lhuillier has supported the careers of top athletes such as Cecil Mamiit, Treat Huey, Katharina Lehnert, Jeson Patrombon, and Eric Tainio, all of whom have represented the country in global tournaments.
Today, its Tennis Ambassadors—AJ Lim, Ruben Gonzales, and Nino Alcantara—continue that legacy. Lim helped secure the Philippines’ Davis Cup promotion in 2025. Gonzales, a doubles specialist, has achieved a career-high ATP ranking of No. 116 and has brought home victories from the SEA Games and ATP Challenger Tour. Alcantara, the 2009 Australian Open Boys’ Doubles champion, remains a steady force for the national team.
“Cebuana Lhuillier’s support motivates me to perform my best,” said Gonzales. Lim added, “Their belief in us gives confidence to aim higher.”
Cebuana Lhuillier’s mission continues—to grow Philippine tennis from grassroots to global recognition, ensuring every young athlete has the chance to shine.
