Cebu journalists and communications educators gathered for a full-day workshop to strengthen their AI and media training skills while reinforcing ethical and responsible journalism.
The training, organized by STET–Women in Cebu Media with partners International Media Support (IMS), the Asian Center for Journalism (ACFJ) at Ateneo de Manila University, PLDT, and Smart, focused on newsroom adaptation in the digital age.
Atty. Maria Jane Paredes of STET–Women in Cebu Media said the workshop aimed to address digital safety, mental wellness, and the impact of AI on newsroom work.
Journalist and technologist Jaemark Tordecilla highlighted how AI can help journalists summarize information, generate story ideas, and reframe content, while stressing the importance of careful review for fairness and accuracy.
Innopub Media Co-founder Max Limpag provided digital safety practices to protect data and build trust online. Bidlisiw Foundation Executive Director Pamela Uy discussed mindfulness and self-awareness as essential tools for mental health in the demanding field of journalism.
PLDT and Smart FVP Roby Alampay affirmed their support, noting that empowering journalists with AI and safety skills builds resilience in the digital age. This initiative aligns with UNSDGs on quality education, innovation, and strong institutions.
