Zed Expands Its Credit Card to Android, Unlocking Access for Nearly 200,000 on Waitlist

Android rollout brings unlimited virtual cards, zero FX fees with no currency markup, Google Pay, and seamless bill-splitting on credit to Filipino cardholders.

Zed announced the launch of its Android app, opening access to the majority of its nearly 200,000-person waitlist and marking a major step in bringing a new kind of credit card to Filipinos across the country.

Built in Silicon Valley and licensed under the BSP, Zed is creating financial products from the ground up for the next generation of young professionals. The result is a modern credit card experience designed around how Filipinos actually live today—traveling, shopping online, and splitting expenses with friends—without the friction, hidden fees, or security risks that have long defined credit cards in the local market.

With Android now live, users can access Zed’s full digital credit stack, including unlimited virtual cards with real-time spending controls, zero foreign transaction fees with no FX markup, peer-to-peer payments on credit, and contactless payments through Google Pay. Zed was part of the first cohort of credit card issuers to go live on Google Pay in the Philippines last November.

“Android unlocks scale for us,” said Danielle Cojuangco Abraham, Co-Founder of Zed. “We’re now able to bring features like unlimited virtual cards, zero FX fees, and seamless peer-to-peer payments to far more Filipinos who have been waiting for a better credit experience.”

Solving a Real Security Problem with Virtual Cards

Card and payments fraud remains a persistent issue in the Philippines, especially for online transactions. Zed was built with this reality in mind.

Cardholders can create unlimited virtual cards for specific merchants or purposes, set individual spending limits, and even configure cards to automatically expire after a single use or within 24 hours. This gives users far greater control, visibility, and protection when shopping online—dramatically reducing the risk of fraud compared to traditional physical cards.

These virtual cards work seamlessly with Google Pay, allowing users to pay securely in-store or online without exposing their main card details.

The Best Card for Travel—No Surprises, No Markups

Zed is the only credit card in the Philippines to offer both zero foreign transaction fees and zero markup on currency conversion rates. For travelers, this means spending abroad exactly at the real exchange rate, with no hidden costs or surprises on their statement.

Whether booking flights, shopping on international websites, or paying overseas, Zed is designed to be the most cost-effective way to use credit outside the Philippines.

KKB, Now on Credit

Zed also rethinks how Filipinos split expenses. Cardholders can pay each other directly on Zed—charging the amount to their credit line and settling it at the end of the billing cycle. This makes common use cases like splitting a restaurant bill or group expenses simple and flexible.

For friends who don’t yet have a Zed card, repayments can be made easily via InstaPay QR payments directly into the cardholder’s account.

Flexible Installments, Fully In-App

In addition to its core credit features, Zed is introducing Installments, allowing cardholders to convert large purchases directly in the app at a flat 1% rate per month. Unlike traditional bank or buy-now-pay-later installment programs, which often rely on merchant partnerships or unclear pricing structures, Zed’s solution is fully digital and available in-app without additional paperwork or friction.

Zed Installments offer full transparency upfront—no hidden fees and no early repayment penalties. Cardholders can pay off early without being penalized.

Built for a Digital Generation

Zed’s Android launch reflects its broader mission: to build transparent, secure, and human-first financial products for a generation that has long been underserved by traditional financial institutions. By combining world-class software with features tailored to Filipino lifestyles, Zed aims to set a new standard for what credit cards in the Philippines can be.Invitations will begin rolling out immediately to Zed’s waitlist.
