Video calls made easier with ViLTE
Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), the wireless arm of PLDT, has introduced Video Calls powered by Video over LTE (ViLTE), giving Smart and TNT subscribers the ability to make high-quality video calls without the need for third-party applications.
With ViLTE, video calling is as easy as making a regular voice call. Calls are charged to the caller’s voice subscription, which means subscribers with Unli Calls offers like Unli 5G+, PowerAll for Smart, or SurfSaya for TNT can enjoy virtually unlimited video calls. The receiver does not need to have an active promo, as long as the caller does.
Features of ViLTE Video Calls
- High-quality video conversations as simple as regular calls
- Stable connections even in crowded areas
- Battery-efficient design for longer use
- Multitasking support, allowing browsing and streaming while on a call
This rollout builds on Smart’s pioneering introduction of Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in 2020, which provided clearer voice calls over LTE. With continuous 4G and 5G expansion, Smart aims to deliver ultra-low latency experiences for video calls, streaming, and gaming.
Lloyd R. Manaloto, FVP at Smart, said, “With ViLTE, we are enhancing everyday communication by empowering our customers with a clearer and more immersive way to connect.”
How to Activate ViLTE
- Go to Settings > Mobile/Cellular Network
- Enable VoLTE/HD Voice
- Toggle ViLTE/Video over LTE/Video Calling to ON
For ViLTE calls, both users must enable VoLTE and ViLTE on their devices and be within Smart’s LTE or 5G coverage. It also works on WiFi.
ViLTE is supported on smartphones from major brands like Samsung, Huawei, OPPO, vivo, Xiaomi, ZTE, Infinix, Itel, and Tecno. Users are advised to update their devices to the latest software for the best experience.
