Shell Pilipinas Corporation has received the Sustainability Rising Star Award at the ACES Awards, recognizing programs involving employee volunteerism, community support and resource recovery.
The company said the recognition reflects work carried out by employees, community organizations and project partners across several initiatives.
Through Shell ACTS, or A Community That Serves, approximately 1,900 employee volunteers have participated in community programs. Activities included installing solar home systems that provided electricity access to 70 Dumagat households in Sto. Niño, Rizal.
Resource recovery is another focus. Shell Pilipinas said a retail station in Bulacan incorporated materials derived from processed plastic waste, while Ecohub projects in Batangas, Tacloban and Cagayan de Oro supported the production of ecobricks and ecocast products.
Working with the Plastics Credit Exchange, the company also supported 110 bicycle racks made using approximately 3,000 kilograms of processed plastic waste.
Under the Shell Plasticycle Program, between four and six tonnes of used plastic pallets were converted into more than 150 school armchairs for public schools.
A separate initiative, ReShell: Weaving Waste, established a textile recovery and weaving hub in Payatas through collaboration with ANTHILL, Maybank Foundation and the Quezon City government. The hub combines textile reuse with training and livelihood opportunities.
The company also highlighted programs supported through Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., which reports reaching around 17 million beneficiaries over its history.
In 2025, foundation activities included planting 7,360 trees across multiple locations, alongside mangrove planting and coastal cleanup work.
Shell Pilipinas said the award recognizes these programs collectively, covering how the company engages employees, works with communities and incorporates resource recovery into selected projects.
