Phuket, Thailand will host the 3rd ASEAN Battery Technology Conference (ABTC) from August 27 to 29, 2025 at SAii Laguna Phuket. The conference will focus on advancing battery safety and innovation across Southeast Asia.
Organized by the Thailand Energy Storage Technology Association (TESTA) and supported by leading battery and EV organizations in the region, ABTC 2025 aims to strengthen ASEAN’s energy future through collaboration and knowledge exchange.
A key highlight is the launch of the ASEAN Battery Safety Network (ABSN). Backed by the ASEAN Committee on Science, Technology and Innovation (COSTI), ABSN will support safe battery deployment across the region. It will also push ASEAN’s role in the global battery value chain.
Experts such as Nobel Laureate Professor Stanley Whittingham, Professor Yet-Ming Chiang, and Professor Shirley Meng will headline the conference. Panel discussions will cover critical topics, including battery policy, grid-scale storage, battery swapping, and financing.
The event brings together regional players like NanoMalaysia, Singapore Battery Consortium, Indonesia’s National Battery Research Institute, and the Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines.
TESTA president Dr. Pimpa Limthongkul said the conference shows ASEAN’s growing leadership in clean energy. Singapore Battery Consortium’s Dr. Sing Yang Chiam highlighted ABSN’s role in driving battery safety standards across the region.
NanoMalaysia CEO Dr. Rezal Khairi Bin Ahmad confirmed that ABTC 2026 will be held in Penang, Malaysia, and will continue to expand the conversation across the entire battery and EV value chain.
Key partners include Siemens, UL Standards & Engagement, Hioki, EGAT, Amphenol, Green Tenaga, Huawei, and others.
