Beabadoobee Looks Back on Bittersweet “Memories” Ahead of New Album Pylon

The Filipino-born, London-raised alternative artist turns nostalgia into one of Pylon’s happiest yet most emotionally conflicted songs as she prepares for her biggest tour to date.

beabadoobee has released “Memories,” the latest song from her forthcoming album Pylon, due September 18, 2026 via Dirty Hit/Interscope Records.

On the surface, “Memories” carries a brighter emotional tone. Beabadoobee describes it as “one of the happiest songs on the album,” but underneath that warmth is a more complicated feeling: the sadness that comes from holding too tightly to moments that have already passed.

The song finds her caught between appreciating memories and wishing she could remain inside them forever.

It is a fitting glimpse into an album that promises to explore emotional contradictions rather than neatly resolve them.

Looking Back Can Hurt, Too

For beabadoobee, “Memories” is rooted in the tendency to romanticize the past.

She describes clinging to experiences that should make her happy, only to realize that remembering them can also make her sad because they cannot be relived exactly as they were.

That tension runs through Pylon, which the press release describes as a broader and more complex record than her previous work—moving between anger, loneliness, joy, depression, and intense romantic feeling.

The songwriting process also brought Beatrice Laus, the artist behind beabadoobee, back to an earlier way of creating music.

She wrote much of the material alone in hotel rooms, an experience that reminded her of writing songs as a teenager in her bedroom.

From Festivals to Her Biggest Tour Yet

“Memories” has already made its way to the stage.

Beabadoobee recently gave the song its live debut during a short run of US performances that included Lollapalooza, Hinterland, and a headline show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.

The next chapter will be significantly bigger.

Beginning October 1, she will embark on The Powerlines Tour, described as her first arena run and biggest tour to date.

The Live Nation-promoted tour includes shows across North America, the UK, and Europe, with stops at major venues including Madison Square Garden in New York, The Kia Forum in Los Angeles, The O2 in London, Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, and other arenas across the tour route.

Support for selected dates will come from Wisp and Violet Grohl.

Another Step Toward Pylon

“Memories” follows previously released Pylon tracks “Switchblade” and “Sun Has Set.”

“Sun Has Set” arrived with a first-person music video directed by beabadoobee’s partner and longtime visual collaborator Jake Erland.

Her earlier albums also made an impact on the UK charts, with Fake It Flowers reaching No. 8 in 2020 and Beatopia reaching No. 4 in 2022.

Earlier in 2026, she also teamed up with The Marías for the standalone single “All I Did Was Dream Of You.”

A Filipino-Born Artist on a Global Stage

Born in the Philippines and raised in London, Beatrice Laus has developed into one of the recognizable names in contemporary British alternative music.

Across three albums and five EPs, she has earned BRIT Award and BBC Sound Of nominations, received NME’s Radar award, and accumulated more than 10 billion streams worldwide, according to the press release.

She also has more than 12 million followers across her social channels.

That makes the arrival of Pylon particularly significant.

For an artist whose songs began in the intimacy of a teenage bedroom, the next chapter is unfolding across arena stages while retaining the emotional honesty that helped build her audience in the first place.
