Japanese boy group ONE OR EIGHT has kicked off a bold new chapter with the release of “Young & Reckless” on August 29. The single marks the first in their “Anthems of Challenge” series, dedicated to dreamers and those embracing individuality.
“Young & Reckless” channels the spirit of living “like a kid,” unafraid of judgment and ready to face challenges. Produced by Kavi, co-producer of Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby,” and Edwin Honoret of PRETTYMUCH, the track blends futuristic electronic textures with classic boyband nostalgia. The music video premiered on August 29 at 9 PM JST.
The group will follow with “BET YOUR LIFE,” completing the first pair of their “anthem of challenge” singles. Together, the songs highlight the importance of risk-taking and living without hesitation.
Since debuting in 2024, ONE OR EIGHT has achieved international milestones. Their breakout track “DSTM” became the first single from a Japanese boy group to enter the U.S. Mediabase Top 40 radio chart. They signed a major deal with Atlantic Music Group and held fan meetings in six countries within their debut year.
With members Mizuki, Neo, Reia, Ryota, Souma, Takeru, Tsubasa, and Yuga, the group carries the tagline “Bet On Yourself,” drawn from the Japanese idiom “one or eight” meaning “all or nothing.” Their ambition and willingness to take risks continue to set them apart in the global pop scene.
