Korean Singer-Songwriter Imzoo and Australian Artist Will Hydebridge Two Cultures on New Collaborative Single “Waiting for U”

Korean singer-songwriter imzoo is set to release her first international collaboration, “waiting for u,” with Australian singer-songwriter will hyde. The R&B single will be available on global streaming platforms on July 31, followed by its release on Korean music services on August 2. 

Written from the perspective of two people caught in the uncertainty between friendship and romance, “waiting for u” captures the familiar feeling of waiting for a text, checking your phone, and wondering whether someone else feels the same way. Built on a warm R&B groove and understated production, the song combines relatable storytelling with the effortless chemistry between the two artists.

Rather than following a traditional duet format, the track unfolds as a conversation. imzoo sings from the perspective of someone waiting, while will hyde responds from the other side, revealing that he has been experiencing the same emotions. Their vocals naturally alternate throughout the song, allowing the story to develop from both perspectives. 

Another distinctive element of the collaboration is its bilingual approach. imzoo performs parts of the song in English, while will hyde sings several lines in Korean. Throughout the recording process, the two artists worked together on each other’s pronunciation, making the language exchange a natural part of the collaboration. The lyrics also include a playful reference to jeyuk-bokkeum, one of will hyde’s favorite Korean dishes, offering listeners a small glimpse into the friendship behind the project.

Reflecting on the experience, imzoo shared: “I helped will hyde practice the Korean lyrics during recording, and it was fun hearing his pronunciation become more natural over time. Learning each other’s languages while making music together became one of my favorite parts of this collaboration.” 

For imzoo, “waiting for u” follows her previous single “Forgive Me,” continuing her exploration of honest and relatable emotions while introducing her first collaboration with an international artist. The release also marks a new step in expanding her musical reach beyond Korea.
