Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein trailer shifts focus to Jacob Elordi’s monster
Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein has released a new trailer, this time spotlighting the Creature played by Jacob Elordi.
The teaser focused on Victor Frankenstein, portrayed by Oscar Isaac. Now, the lens turns to the monster himself. Elordi’s performance shows a being both fragile and terrifying.

Del Toro’s take gives the Creature a unique origin. Unlike past versions, this one emerges from the Crimean War, stitched together from fallen soldiers. He is not only a creation, but also a resurrected soldier built from violence and loss.
The trailer shows him haunted by memories of his body’s past lives. He stalks through gunfire and even attacks a ship, showcasing the physical power and emotional torment within him. His words cut deep: “If you are not to award me love, then I will indulge in rage.”
Del Toro explained that the Creature needed to feel childlike at times, yet also philosophical. Elordi found inspiration in butoh, a Japanese dance form, and even his golden retriever. He said her innocence and movement helped him capture the Creature’s vulnerability.
This duality is clear in the trailer. One moment, the Creature appears delicate. The next, he unleashes fury at his maker. The final image has him confronting Victor with a chilling warning: “Run.”
As with many of del Toro’s works, the monster is more than just fearsome. He carries depth, innocence, and tragedy.
Frankenstein opens in select theaters on October 17 and will stream on Netflix starting November 7.
