There’s new blood—and new secrets—in the chilling return of I Know What You Did Last Summer, hitting Philippine cinemas on July 30. Reviving the iconic 1997 slasher film, this modern continuation stars Jonah Hauer-King at the helm, alongside a rising ensemble of actors who bring a fresh yet haunted energy to Southport’s deadly past.
Jonah Hauer-King plays Milo Griffin, the steady voice of reason among the group who wrestles with the weight of guilt following a deadly accident. Known for his roles in The Little Mermaid and Doctor Who, Hauer-King brings quiet intensity and grounded vulnerability to a franchise that thrives on fear and suspense. “Milo is the one who keeps the group tethered to reality when everything falls apart,” he shares.
Starring alongside Hauer-King is Chase Sui Wonders as Ava Brucks, Milo’s perceptive and emotionally torn high school sweetheart. Ava initially resists staying silent about what happened—but the group’s pressure proves overwhelming. Danica Cline plays Ava’s best friend Danica Richards, whose loyalty is tested but never breaks. Tyriq Withers portrays Teddy Spencer, the privileged heir of Southport’s elite who brings both charm and chaos. Rounding out the crew is Sarah Pidgeon as Stevie, a grounded realist tied to the town’s tragic past and current horrors, working in a bar owned by original survivor Ray (Freddie Prinze Jr.).
Director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson praises the cast’s chemistry as “lightning in a bottle,” blending horror, humor, and character-driven depth. “There’s all the fear factor, blood, and mystery—but also this refreshing wink of comedy,” says Hauer-King, hinting at the film’s modern sensibilities.
The blood may be new, but the fear is just as sharp. With Jonah Hauer-King leading the charge, I Know What You Did Last Summer introduces a new generation of secrets, betrayals, and consequences that refuse to stay buried.
