Prepare for another round of blood-soaked, bone-crunching action as Mortal Kombat II hits cinemas this October. The next chapter in the blockbuster video game franchise adaptation returns with all the brutal spectacle fans expect — and this time, fan-favorite Johnny Cage officially joins the fight.
From New Line Cinema and director Simon McQuoid comes the much-anticipated sequel to the 2021 reboot, promising even higher stakes and more intense battles. Karl Urban leads the cast as Johnny Cage, joined by Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Joe Taslim as Bi-Han, and Hiroyuki Sanada reprising his role as Hanzo Hasashi aka Scorpion.
The film follows the champions of Earthrealm as they face their deadliest challenge yet: a war for survival against the dark reign of Shao Kahn. As the realms teeter on the edge of annihilation, warriors must band together — or fall one by one in a battle of ultimate consequence.
With a screenplay by Jeremy Slater and production led by Todd Garner and James Wan, Mortal Kombat II blends adrenaline-pumping fight sequences, fan-service fatalities, and cinematic storytelling. Set to release internationally on October 22 and in North America on October 24, 2025, the movie will be shown exclusively in cinemas and IMAX.
