He gained recognition with his 2015 EP DiCaprio, leading to his signing with Dreamville/Interscope Records under J. Cole. His debut The Never Story (2017) and follow-up DiCaprio 2 (2018) solidified his reputation, earning him a place in XXL’s Freshmen Class and widespread acclaim.
His career surged with Revenge of the Dreamers III (2019), a Platinum-certified compilation that received GRAMMY nods. J.I.D later collaborated with Imagine Dragons on Enemy for Netflix’s Arcane, a hit that reached nearly two billion streams and achieved 4x RIAA Platinum.
In 2022, he released The Forever Story, hailed as a modern classic and home to the viral track Surround Sound, which went 3x Platinum. This success led to collaborations with artists like Doja Cat, Offset, Dua Lipa, and Freddie Gibbs.
His latest album, God Does Like Ugly (2025), expanded his artistry further with guest features from Ciara, Vince Staples, Jessie Reyez, Ty Dolla $ign, Clipse, and Eminem on the standout track Animals. The project earned praise for its sonic depth and lyrical mastery.
