Globe Ramps Up Child Online Protection for Safer Internet Day 2026

Online exploitation of children remains one of the most serious threats in today’s digital world. In the Philippines, where risks continue to rise alongside access, Globe is stepping up its mission to keep the internet a safe space for children and families alike.

This year’s Safer Internet Day theme, “Ako, Ikaw, Tayo: Konektado at Protektado Laban sa OSAEC (Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children) at CSAEM (Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material),” echoes Globe’s long standing belief that safety is everyone’s responsibility. While Globe secures its network with sustained cybersecurity investments, it also empowers users to recognize risks, report abuse, and protect one another online.

“Safety in the digital space requires action on all fronts,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “We protect our customers through advanced filtering, real-time threat blocking, and easy-to-use reporting tools like the Globe StopSpam portal. But true protection also means education, giving every Filipino, especially the youth, the knowledge and confidence to stay safe and speak up online.”

Through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), Globe reached over 16,560 students and educators in 2025 alone with hands-on workshops on digital citizenship, privacy, and child protection. Since its launch in 2016, DTP has engaged nearly 2 million Filipino students nationwide.

Beyond awareness campaigns, Globe also ramped up its digital defenses, deploying multiple safeguards to keep users secure. In 2025, the company blocked 967 million scam and spam messages, blocked 272,746 SIMs via its StopSpam portal, and took down 17,384 malicious domains, including 8,704 illegal gambling sites. These efforts form part of Globe’s broader strategy to minimize digital threats and reduce the spread of harmful content.

Child protection remains a core priority. Globe also blocked 3,096 domains linked to child pornography and exploitation, backed by a US$2.7 million investment in advanced content-filtering technologies. The company also supports the MAKABATA 1383 helpline, operated by the Council for the Welfare of Children, to help improve reporting of online abuse and child rights violations, addressing gaps in awareness, access, and action.

With these efforts, Globe continues to deliver on its #MakeITSafe advocacy, aligning security and education to create a digital environment where children can thrive without fear.
