Full Phils Launches Children’s Book “A Heart in Two Places” to Support OFW Scholars

Full Phils, a youth-led non-profit supporting Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in Hong Kong, launched its first children’s book, A Heart in Two Places, at Museo Pambata.

The book, written by Full Phils founder Emilio Baja, tells the story of Arlyn, a domestic worker in Hong Kong who dreams of reuniting with her three children in the Philippines. Written for children aged five and up, it introduces readers to the sacrifices of OFWs while carrying themes of love, resilience, and hope.

Proceeds from the book will directly support Full Phils’ scholarship program, which helps OFWs in Hong Kong pursue college education they once set aside to work abroad. Since 2022, the group has assisted nearly 30 OFWs in returning to school, with its first graduates expected in 2025.

“The book bridges two different worlds: the one where OFWs live abroad, and the one they long for back home,” said Baja. “Through this story, we hope children and parents understand that sacrifice can create opportunities, and that education remains one of the strongest tools to reach dreams.”

A Heart in Two Places will also be featured at the Manila International Book Fair (Sept 10–14, SMX Convention Center) and the Frankfurt Book Fair (Oct 15–19, Germany). It will be available through Full Phils’ social media pages, Google Form, email, select bookstores, and online platforms nationwide.

Full Phils combines storytelling and advocacy to make higher education more accessible for OFWs, turning every book purchase into support for a scholar’s journey.
