Sinag Maynila Film Festival returns for its 7th edition, highlighting Filipino indie films that tell stories rooted in local culture and identity.
From September 24 to 30, selected Metro Manila theaters will screen this year’s official finalists, including full-length features, documentaries, and short films. The festival, founded by Solar Entertainment President Wilson Tieng and Cannes-winning director Brillante Mendoza, stays true to its vision of promoting “Sine Lokal, Pang-International.”
Twelve official entries for documentaries and more than 30 short films join the competition, alongside five full-length features. Tickets are priced at P250 and screenings will be held in Gateway, Robinsons Manila, Robinsons Antipolo, SM Mall of Asia, and SM Fairview.
Wilson Tieng noted the festival’s record number of submissions, showing strong interest from the local film community. Mendoza reaffirmed Sinag Maynila’s advocacy, calling the festival a platform for Filipino filmmakers to share their work with wider audiences.
The lineup includes films like Candé by Kevin Pison Piamonte, Jeongbu by Topel Lee, and Madawag Ang Landas Patungong Pag-Asa (The Teacher) by Joel Lamangan. Documentaries such as Mga Bayaning Ayta by Donnie Sacueza and short films like Nagahanaw Na Mga Aninipot (Vanishing Fireflies) by JP Corton also stand out in the roster.
Sinag Maynila 2025 continues to champion Filipino indie films, proving that local stories resonate on both national and global stages.
