CIMB Bank PH stays true to financial inclusion mission, helps “women champions” open their first CIMB bank account

CIMB Bank Philippines recently supported the efforts of Communities Organized for Resource Allocation (CORA) to uplift the lives of women by enabling them to open their first CIMB bank account. This initiative underscores CIMB’s continued commitment to help give Filipinos access to financial tools to pursue their life goals, with no one left behind.

The beneficiaries of this activity are the women who work as ‘Eco-Ikot Center Champions’ at CORA Eco-Ikot Center (EIC), a facility that allows communities to exchange their recyclables for points which can be used to redeem rewards such as e-cash and goods. Champions from CORA Eco-Ikot Centers in Paranaque and Manila participated in the activity held at the CIMB office in Taguig.

CIMB Bank PH first guided the EIC Champions on the importance of saving and budgeting through a lecture by CIMB Bank PH’s Chief Finance Officer Jose Marie Pabiton, before being assisted by CIMB employee volunteers to open their first CIMB bank account. Each participant had a CIMB volunteer partner that aided them through the entire process and answered any questions they may have along the way.

Having their own CIMB bank account helps open many doors for the EIC Champions, as they not only have a means to safely secure and grow their hard-earned money, but they also now have better access to other financial tools like credit. They are now part of the millions of CIMB customers that can bank the way they deserve. To date, CIMB Bank PH has 8.8 million customers and over 3.5 million lending customers, most of which are first time borrowers from a bank.

Since 2018, CIMB Bank PH has done financial literacy programs and remains committed to empowering Filipinos with financial knowledge and accessible tools to help them achieve their life purpose.
