AirAsia Philippines leadership growth takes focus as Anna Victoria Lu steps in to lead stability, expansion, and stronger travel access for Filipinos.
AirAsia Philippines has named Anna Victoria Lu as its new President and General Manager, marking a fresh chapter for the airline as it works to sustain momentum and expand access to travel for more Filipinos.

Lu steps into the role with more than 15 years of experience across infrastructure, utilities, transport, power, water, and ICT. Her background also includes work in public private partnerships, a field that demands discipline, long term planning, and strong coordination across sectors. Before joining AirAsia Philippines, she led the water business at Aboitiz Infrastructure, where she helped manage one of the country’s largest private water PPP projects that served over one million residents.
Her appointment comes at a key time for the airline. AirAsia Philippines is moving from recovery into a new growth phase. The company reported a 14 percent increase in passengers flown in the first quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. That rise points to strong travel demand and a market that continues to rebound.
Lu said AirAsia remains committed to making travel more accessible to Filipinos. She also stressed the need to balance growth with discipline, especially as the aviation sector faces pressure from global issues such as the Middle East crisis and its effect on fuel costs.
She takes over from Capt. Suresh Bangah, who helped guide AirAsia Philippines through a critical recovery period. Bangah now moves to a bigger role as Group Chief Operations Officer of AirAsia Aviation Group.
For travelers, the leadership change signals continuity with a sharper push for expansion. AirAsia Philippines now operates 26 routes, made up of 14 domestic and 12 international destinations. The airline has also added routes such as Ha Noi and Da Nang, giving Filipino travelers more options for regional trips.
The Cebu hub is also set for further growth, with plans for new international routes and broader connectivity. That matters for passengers who want easier access to destinations without relying only on Manila.
With a network that spans more than 150 destinations across ASEAN and beyond, AirAsia Philippines is positioning itself to stay competitive while keeping fares within reach. Under Lu’s leadership, the airline aims to protect operational stability, rebuild brand confidence, and turn rising demand into long term growth.
