Vinfast Vf 3 Finds New Purpose as a Compact Electric Police Patrol Vehicle

The VinFast VF 3 was built for daily city driving, but the tiny electric SUV is now taking on a new role in public service as police agencies in Southeast Asia explore electric mobility for patrol and support operations.

In the Philippines, the Municipality of Noveleta in Cavite has deployed VinFast VF 3 units as electric police patrol vehicles, supporting its push toward sustainable governance, environmental responsibility, and modern public safety.

The initial deployment includes VF 3 units supplied through VinFast Marikina and Xentro, with additional units expected in the future.

Electric Mobility for Local Public Safety

Noveleta’s use of the VF 3 reflects a growing interest among local governments in electric vehicles beyond private ownership.

As the first municipality in the CALABARZON region to adopt EV mobility goals, Noveleta is using the compact electric SUV to support local patrol operations while helping reduce fuel consumption and vehicle operating costs.

For a municipality modernizing its fleet, the move shows how EVs can become practical tools for public service, especially in dense urban and community settings.

A Different Public Service Role in Indonesia

In Indonesia, the VF 3 has been adapted for a specialized traffic enforcement program.

Indonesia’s National Traffic Police Corps recently unveiled its Precision Drone Patrol ETLE program, which uses drones to monitor traffic conditions and identify violations.

To support the program, officers selected a modified VF 3 as a mobile transport vehicle for drone equipment. The rear section was redesigned to store equipment, allowing officers to transport and deploy traffic-monitoring drones from different locations.

Its compact dimensions help officers maneuver through congested urban areas and operate in spaces where larger vehicles may be less practical.

Why the VF 3 Fits Urban Fleet Use

The VF 3’s small footprint is one of its strongest advantages.

The mini electric SUV measures 3,190 mm long, 1,679 mm wide, and 1,652 mm high, making it easier to navigate narrow roads, crowded streets, public markets, and tight parking spaces.

Despite its size, it has 16-inch wheels and 175 mm of ground clearance, giving it a more SUV-like stance for imperfect city roads.

The VF 3 also offers a driving range of up to 215 kilometers on a full charge. Using DC fast charging, its battery can go from 10% to 70% in around 36 minutes.

For patrol duties, municipal use, and everyday city driving, that means more time on the road and less time spent charging.

Small EV, Growing Reputation

The VF 3 has become one of VinFast’s most visible models in Southeast Asia.

In Vietnam, VinFast has maintained its position as the country’s best-selling automotive brand for 20 consecutive months. The VF 3 has been one of the strongest contributors to that momentum.

In May 2026 alone, VinFast delivered 4,770 VF 3 units, bringing cumulative VF 3 deliveries to 20,231 vehicles during the first five months of the year.

The model is also gaining attention in Indonesia and the Philippines as an affordable and practical entry point into EV ownership.

Practical Value Beyond Private Ownership

The same qualities that make the VF 3 attractive to families and urban drivers also make it useful for government and fleet operations.

Its compact size, maneuverability, lower day-to-day energy costs, reduced maintenance needs, and modern electric platform give it flexibility in different use cases.

The vehicle also comes with a 7-year or 160,000-kilometer vehicle warranty and a 10-year battery warranty, supported by VinFast’s growing service network and free charging program at V-Green charging stations.

A Tiny EV With Bigger Possibilities
