Vena Energy marked World Environment Day 2026 by launching a large-scale environmental initiative in Antipolo City, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability beyond renewable energy development.
Held in Sitio Kilingan, Barangay San Jose, the Vena Energy Tree Planting activity gathered 19 employee volunteers and 100 members of the local People’s Organization to support the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) Forests for Life (FFL) program.
During the event, volunteers planted 200 seedlings consisting of molave, white lauan, and soursop trees as the first step in a larger commitment to forest restoration.
The initiative follows a Memorandum of Agreement signed between Vena Energy and DENR in February 2026, formalizing the company’s participation in the national effort to plant at least five million indigenous trees by 2028.
“As a company dedicated to accelerating the energy transition, we ensure that our responsibility to the environment extends beyond our renewable energy projects,” said Samrinder Nehria, Head of Vena Energy in the Philippines.
A second agreement was signed between Vena Energy and Samahan ng Magsasaka sa Kilingan-Panusugin, Inc. (SMKPI), committing the company to plant 28,000 trees across 50 hectares of land in Rizal. The project marks the first partnership between SMKPI and a private-sector organization.
The selected site in Antipolo holds ecological significance for Greater Metro Manila and aligns with Vena Energy’s broader environmental stewardship efforts in Rizal, where several of its renewable energy projects and community programs are located.
Officials from the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) welcomed the initiative, emphasizing the role of community-based forest management in ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.
The Vena Energy Tree Planting initiative reflects the company’s commitment to environmental conservation, biodiversity restoration, and climate resilience while strengthening partnerships with local communities.
As the Philippines continues to pursue ambitious reforestation targets, collaborations between government agencies, local organizations, and private companies are becoming increasingly important in creating lasting environmental impact.
The takeaway: Planting trees is more than an environmental activity. It is a long-term investment in climate resilience, biodiversity, and healthier communities for future generations.
