Visa Launches Visa University to Build the Future of Payments Leadership in the Philippines

The global payments leader is expanding professional education in the country through a new learning platform designed to strengthen digital finance expertise and build future-ready banking professionals.

Visa is investing in the future of payments education in the Philippines with the launch of Visa University, a global learning platform designed to advance professional knowledge in payments and financial technology.

Introduced in the Philippines through an inaugural forum held at the Asian Institute of Management, Visa University aims to equip banking and finance professionals with deeper knowledge of payments systems, technology trends, and real-world applications shaping the future of financial services.

The launch drew more than 130 participants from banks, fintech firms, merchants, and financial institutions across the country.

Led by Visa Consulting and Analytics (VCA), Visa’s advisory and analytics arm, the forum explored key topics including payments fundamentals, issuing and acquiring, credit card profit and loss, agentic commerce, and emerging risk solutions.

The initiative reflects Visa’s commitment to strengthening the country’s digital payments ecosystem through education and professional development.

“The rapidly evolving payments landscape requires leaders who are curious and agile, while being strongly grounded in fundamentals,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Country Manager for the Philippines.

“Through Visa University, we are investing in the development of future payments talent to help strengthen the resilience of the Philippine payments ecosystem.”

He added that the program supports the country’s broader ambition to build a more inclusive, innovative, and secure digital economy.

Visa University combines Visa’s extensive payments expertise with regional and global case studies to deliver practical learning experiences tailored to industry professionals.

For its first local forum, the platform focused on foundational courses for early-career banking employees, helping participants better understand the mechanics of payments systems and financial operations.

The launch builds on Visa University’s previous partnerships with globally recognized institutions such as INSEAD, where it delivered executive education programs on emerging payments innovation.

Looking ahead, Visa is exploring collaborations with local universities and professional organizations to expand access to specialized learning modules and bespoke payments courses in the Philippines.

As digital payments continue to reshape consumer behavior and business transactions, initiatives like Visa University play a critical role in preparing finance professionals for the demands of a rapidly changing financial landscape.
