The 8th GAIN National Convention is set to examine how agentic AI will reshape industries and jobs in the Philippines. With the theme “Shaping Tomorrow: Gaining Momentum in the Era of AI,” the convention takes place on August 29 at the AIM Conference Center in Makati City.
Organized by the Government Academe Industry Network, Inc. (GAIN), the event will bring together government officials, educators, and industry leaders to discuss the adoption of agentic AI. Unlike generative AI that needs prompts, agentic AI functions autonomously and makes independent decisions. A Microsoft study shows that 89% of companies in the Philippines plan to use AI agents within 12 to 18 months.
GAIN President Monette Iturralde-Hamlin emphasized that the convention will focus on preparing Filipino talent for an AI-enabled future. Key speakers include SEAMEO Innotech’s Kochakorn Khattapan-Acidre on AI in Southeast Asian education and Southville Global Education Network CTO Rex Wallen Tan on agentic AI’s role in education, government, and business.
Industry leaders like Doc Ligot from the Philippine AI Business Association, Ida Tiongson of Fintech Alliance PH, and JL Botor of the Healthcare Information Management Association of the Philippines will share applications of agentic AI in streamlining operations. The convention will close with a panel discussion highlighting cross-sector collaborations for building a future-ready society.
For years, the GAIN National Convention has been a platform for dialogue on global competitiveness of Filipino talent amid technological change. GAIN Chairman Peter Laurel noted that their initiatives, including education programs and collaborations with platforms like Duolingo, aim to strengthen communication and digital skills for Filipinos.
Limited slots remain available for participants. Registration details are posted on GAIN’s Facebook, LinkedIn, and official website, or via email at [email protected].
