Women’s leadership extends beyond boardrooms—it cultivates communities and drives meaningful change. This was exemplified by Converge ICT Solutions Inc.’s women’s leadership program, Grace Under Pressure: MentorSHE, which spearheaded a tree-planting activity in celebration of Women’s Month.
Under the scorching sun, 30 employees planted 1,000 mandarin and coffee seedlings in Sitio Sapangbato, Angeles, Pampanga, contributing to the local government’s Watershed Reforestation Program. The initiative not only supports environmental conservation but also provides sustainable livelihood opportunities for local farmers.
“We kicked off Women’s Month with this initiative to protect the environment and demonstrate our commitment to the communities we serve,” said Jay-Anne Encarnado, Converge VP and Head of Corporate Communications and PR.
MentorSHE mentor and Converge VP Mel Cabase reflected on the lasting impact of the project: “It’s fulfilling to contribute to the environment, not just for our generation but for the future.”
For mentee Donna Villanueva, the experience was eye-opening. “This is my first time joining an outdoor company activity, and it won’t be my last. It was refreshing after a week in the office.”
Converge is set to return soon to plant 1,350 more seedlings as part of its commitment to sustainability. In line with its mission to give back to the planet, the company previously partnered with the Energy Development Corporation to plant 600 endangered Philippine teak seedlings in Lobo, Batangas.
