What Happens When We Stop Treating People as Disposable?

World-Renowned Jesuit Priest Fr. Greg Boyle Returns to Manila to Champion Radical Kinship and Mental Healing

Renowned Jesuit priest, author, and founder of Homeboy Industries, Fr. Greg Boyle, SJ, is returning to the Philippines this September 2026 to share his transformative message on trauma-informed healing, radical compassion, and human dignity. Hosted by Elaine Kahn and Integra Wellness Center, the upcoming events invite Filipinos to rethink how society views marginalized and vulnerable individuals.  

While in Manila, Fr. Boyle will talk about “Finding Hope, Healing and Connection in a Divided World,” on September 10, 2026, 4:00 PM, at the Santuario de San Antonio Parish Center. Spend an afternoon exploring what four decades with the homies have taught Fr. Greg about compassion, healing, second chances—and our need to belong to one another. 

Then Fr. Boyle will hold a three-day retreat, from September 11–13, 2026, at Rosary Hills, Silang, Cavite. Go deeper into Fr. Greg’s message of radical kinship: What would change if we truly believed that no one was disposable? An invitation to move beyond “us and them,” recognize our shared humanity, and rediscover the goodness in ourselves and others. 

Fr. Greg’s path began in 1986 as pastor of Dolores Mission in Los Angeles, the city’s poorest Catholic parish at the time, surrounded by intense gang activity. Instead of offering judgment, he began walking the streets, listening, learning names, and supporting young people facing poverty, incarceration, and trauma. In 1988, this mission evolved into Homeboy Industries. Today, it stands as the world’s largest gang intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry organization, assisting over 10,000 individuals annually through employment, therapy, tattoo removal, and holistic support.  

“People do not transform because we fix them. Something begins to change when people experience being seen, cherished, and reminded of their own goodness,” says Fr. Greg.  

His approach aligns closely with the mission of Elaine Kahn, founder of Integra Wellness Center, who first brought Fr. Greg to Manila in 2024 to promote whole-person, trauma-informed healing across local communities.
