Western Union mobile app Philippines enables users to send and receive money globally
Western Union has launched its first all-in-one mobile app in the Philippines. The new platform allows users to send and receive money internationally in one place.

This marks a first for the global remittance company, with the Philippines becoming the first market to access both services in a single app. Previous versions across Asia-Pacific only supported money pickups. Now, Filipinos can request remittances from relatives abroad and send funds directly to other countries.
The move highlights the Philippines’ growing role in global remittance flows. According to the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas and the World Bank, remittances reached a record USD 38 billion in 2024. This ranks the country fourth worldwide in total remittance receipts.
The Western Union app connects users to its global network of bank accounts, digital wallets, and agent locations. Transactions can be funded through QR PH and tracked via a unique MTCN code for added security. Recipients can choose to claim money through cash pickup, direct bank transfer, or wallet deposit. They can also re-transfer received funds directly from the app.
Western Union said launching the app first in the Philippines reflects the market’s importance as a remittance hub. Millions of overseas Filipino workers send money home each month to support families, making digital access a top priority.
The app is now available for download on iOS and Android. Users can register with valid identification and start sending or receiving funds within minutes.
With this launch, Western Union aims to simplify money movement for Filipinos worldwide. It turns smartphones into complete remittance centers, bridging digital access and financial inclusion.
