TP, Bacolod City LGU ink partnership for career-readiness curriculum

TP, a global leader in digital business services, recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Bacolod City Government for the adoption of Bacolod City College (BCC) of the @SENSO Life Skills Academy Training Program. Accredited by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the program will integrate industry-based skills training into BCC’s academic programs to improve the employability of the school’s graduates, students, and near-hires in the business process outsourcing (BPO) industry.

According to the MOA, the @SENSO Life Skills Academy Training Program will be facilitated by TESDA and local government units (LGUs) at a designated hub. The training program will include, in particular: curriculum enhancement, a 10-day simulation-based instruction, industry-led training, certification, and potential employment placement. Furthermore, the program aims to leverage funding mechanisms such as TESDA’s Enterprise-based Education Training (EBET) Framework and Micro-Credentials Program.

The MOA upholds TP’s commitment to enhancing the competencies of potential BPO workforce entrants through industry-relevant training, simulation, and employment opportunities. The MOA likewise aims to contribute to Bacolod City’s local economy by boosting employment in the BPO sector.

“This partnership showcases TP’s commitment to investing in Bacolod’s future workforce. By equipping potential near-hires with in-demand skills required by the BPO industry, we’re directly supporting government initiatives to bring more jobs to the countryside,” said Maria Jesusa Gemarino, TP Bacolod site director.

Bacolod City Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez expressed that the LGU anticipates the industry’s robust expansion through this partnership, and that they look forward to many more firsts in achieving their vision of becoming a supercity.

This recent partnership is one of multiple Government-Academe-Industry collaborations TP has participated in. Earlier this year, the organization also signed a MOA with the State University of Northern Negros (SUNN) establishing a strategic partnership under TP Launchpad, TP’s flagship university relations program. In December 2024, TP signed a separate MOA with BCC to foster initiatives in community empowerment, career development, and on-the-job training (OJT) partnerships. Said partnerships demonstrate TP’s ongoing commitment to nurturing local talent and building stronger academic-industry linkages.

Chief People Officer of TP in the Philippines Jeffrey Johnson emphasized the collaborative spirit of the recent MOA between the organization and BCC. “With the strong participation of our government, we continue to inspire change by building stronger communities,” Johnson said.
