CgAIA Philippines, formerly Philam Life and the local arm of multinational insurer AIA Group, brought its world-class football clinic to Iloilo as part of the AIA Healthiest Schools (AHS) program. Building on the success of the first AHS football clinic in Baguio, the company welcomed over 100 students and more than 40 coaches from 20 municipalities for a two-day event aimed at promoting lifelong habits that support overall health and wellbeing.

This initiative is a collaboration between Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, a leading team in the English Premier League, and AIA, the Club’s long-standing Global Principal Partner. Held at Guimbal National High School, the Iloilo football clinic integrated football skills training with teacher workshops, and an age-appropriate wellness curriculum that included lessons on nutrition.

Leading the session were Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s Head of International Development for APAC Shannon Moloney, and International Development Coach Lily Jervis, along with Iloilo-based Philippine Football Federation (PFF) coaches.

“It brings me a lot of joy to share the love for football with such an engaged and passionate community of people in Iloilo. Each AHS football clinic is something I genuinely look forward to—seeing students and coaches enthusiastically engage in our activities, and having the opportunity to share my expertise to help reshape their views on education, football, and healthy living is incredibly rewarding,” shared Coach Shannon Moloney, who has had experience as an educator and who played midfielder for the Tottenham Hotspur Women’s team.

“Iloilo brought such energy to our football training sessions, and I hope this experience helps the kids’ love for football grow,” added Coach Lily Jervis, who played for the Northern Regional Football in the National Women’s League in New Zealand.

The AIA Healthiest Schools program is a pioneering initiative by AIA Group created to boost health literacy among students aged 5 to 16, promoting awareness on how they can stay active, eat well and lead healthy lifestyles. To support this, AHS provides participating schools with free curriculum-linked resources based on the four pillars of well-being: healthy eating, physical activity, mental health, and sustainability.

“AIA Healthiest Schools is our flagship health literacy program that empowers young people and communities to take charge of their health. In the Philippines, one of the ways we bring this to life is through football, making learning more engaging, culturally relevant, and fun. Sports unite communities, build discipline, teamwork, and resilience, all aligned with our purpose of helping people live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives,” expressed Melissa Henson, Chief Marketing Officer, AIA Philippines.

Launched in the Philippines in August 2024, AHS programs have reached over 7,200 students and trained 139 teachers across five regions in the Philippines.

In the Philippines, the program is implemented in partnership with the Corazon S. Atayde Memorial Foundation, which serves grassroots communities to promote reading, learning and financial literacy to underserved communities. AIA Healthiest Schools’ lessons and content are also broadcast on The Knowledge Channel, as well as on its digital platforms nationwide, through the recently launched Gen H: Generation Healthy, an educational program that airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, at 12:20 PM.

AIA Philippines plans to bring the AIA Healthiest Schools program to even more students around the country, equipping future generations with the tools to live Healthier, Longer, Better Lives.
