Especia Rum debuts locally after global success
Filipinos can now raise a glass to Especia Rum, a spiced golden-amber spirit that has already conquered competitions and drinkers abroad. After making waves in the United States and Europe, this homegrown rum is now making its much-anticipated debut in the Philippines.

Especia first turned heads at the San Diego Spirits Festival, where it earned a Double Gold Medal with its smooth aromas and warm finish. In New Orleans, it went further, winning Gold and “Best in Category” at the New Orleans Spirits Competition. Even before that, it scored 82 points at the Bartender Spirits Awards in 2022. By 2023, European experts also recognized its unique Filipino profile when Falstaff rated it 87 points, praising its caramel and vanilla notes. Today, Especia has already bagged 18 medals worldwide.
The secret lies in its flavor profile. Aged for up to seven years in ex-bourbon barrels, it is made with local molasses and natural spices. It presents a golden-amber color and aromas of cinnamon, honey, and ginger balanced with vanilla and caramel. On the palate, you get tropical fruits, baking spices, and honey, ending with a smooth lingering finish. Bottled at 40% ABV, it can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, or as part of a cocktail.
Behind its success is Tanduay, the world’s best-selling rum brand for eight straight years. According to Tanduay International Business Development Manager Roy Kristoffer Sumang, Especia reflects Filipino rum-making excellence and global trust in local craftsmanship.
Now available in the Philippines through Shots.ph, Shopee, Lazada, Singlemalt.ph, Travel Free stores, and select Metro Manila bars, Especia Rum is ready to take its place in Filipino celebrations.
