Small Shifts, Big Results: Women in APAC and Wellness through Balanced Nutrition

Women across Asia Pacific face constant demands at home, work, and in their communities. Finding balance often feels out of reach, yet even small changes in lifestyle and nutrition can deliver lasting wellness benefits.

Dr. Rocio Medina Badiano, Cochairperson and Member of the Herbalife Nutrition Advisory Board, emphasizes a holistic approach. This includes balanced nutrition, regular exercise, restorative sleep, and strong social connections. Together, these pillars empower women to take charge of their health.

In the Philippines, women often face health challenges linked to cultural roles and limited access to care. The United Nations reports higher risks of preventable deaths from childbirth complications. Studies also show Filipino women report above-average levels of depression and stress. These highlight the need for lifestyle improvements.

Stress, poor sleep, and obesity are tightly connected. The 2023 National Nutrition Survey revealed 57.1% of Filipino adults were overweight or obese, with six in ten women affected. Similar concerns span Malaysia, Taiwan, and South Korea. Lack of sleep increases cravings, while stress disrupts hunger hormones, making weight management difficult.

Nutrition remains key. Women are encouraged to prioritize protein, iron-rich foods, and hydration. Protein supports energy and muscle health, while iron helps prevent deficiencies common in premenopausal women. Hydration through water and water-rich fruits strengthens immunity and digestion.

Exercise also plays a critical role. At least 150 minutes of moderate activity weekly, plus resistance training, improves cardiovascular and metabolic health. Women who exercise regularly also report better sleep. Pairing this with consistent sleep routines and calm environments supports stress management and recovery.

Finally, community support matters. Wellness grows when knowledge is shared and reinforced by social networks. Events such as the 2025 Herbalife Extravaganza in Hong Kong highlight the importance of education and empowerment for women across the region.

Small, daily lifestyle adjustments create big results. Women in APAC can thrive by embracing balanced nutrition, movement, proper rest, and community engagement.
