Black Eyed Peas homecoming electrifies SM MOA Arena
The Black Eyed Peas returned to the Philippines with a sold-out homecoming show at the SM Mall of Asia Arena on August 27, bringing together thousands of fans in a night of nostalgia, purpose, and unity.
The Grammy-winning group, composed of will.i.am, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo, and J. Rey Soul, lit up the arena with their 2000s anthems including “Let’s Get It Started,” “I Gotta Feeling,” and “Where Is the Love.” The latter turned the crowd into a sea of lights, as fans raised their phones and sang in unison, creating one of the most emotional highlights of the night.
The concert marked two milestones: the group’s 30th year in music and Apl.de.Ap’s personal homecoming. Born in Pampanga and raised in the Philippines, Apl’s story from humble beginnings to global success struck a deep chord with the audience. His presence reinforced the message that music has no borders, uniting people through shared identity and culture.
The group also spoke of family, childhood, and roots that shaped their journey. Their diverse backgrounds—Filipino, African-American, and Latin—mirrored the universality of music, proving it is both a reflection of identity and a bridge across generations.
The SM Mall of Asia Arena became more than just a stage. It turned into a sanctuary of culture and storytelling, hosting fans from around the world and reminding everyone that music thrives when it carries both community and heritage.
