To achieve this, the team has focused on believability, bringing a high level of authenticity to Senua’s world. The game features real locations in Iceland, recreated using satellite data and photogrammetry. Characters are digital doubles of real people, with costumes crafted using historically authentic techniques and materials. Character animations start with real movements captured on a performance capture stage.
The game’s narrative themes also draw from reality, particularly Senua’s experiences of psychosis. Senua perceives and experiences things that others do not, reflecting the unshared reality of those living with psychosis. To portray this accurately, Ninja Theory collaborated with neuroscience experts and individuals with lived experience of psychosis, ensuring a respectful and genuine depiction of Senua’s mental health journey.
The launch of Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II marks another milestone in the collaboration between Ninja Theory and Hennessy, following previous creative projects such as the immersive concept show 「DONG」 with Fila in 2023.
