Rocking chair art exhibit honors love and legacy of grandparents
Grandparents’ Day was marked with meaning as Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, together with S.I.L.Y.A. (Sa Iyo Lola at Lolo, Yantok aming Alay) and the UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc., launched the Seated in Sentiment: A Rocking Chair Art Exhibition at Eastwood Mall Atrium. The exhibit celebrates grandparents by merging art and advocacy through hand-painted rocking chairs created by Thomasian artists.
S.I.L.Y.A., founded by Tito Lorete Alcala, was built on the idea that seniors deserve a place of comfort, rest, and dignity. The rocking chair symbolizes that mission. Through this project, the chairs become not only functional but also works of art available for purchase to support the advocacy.
The opening brought together advocates and artists, including Tito Alcala of S.I.L.Y.A., Tinay Villanueva of Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, Kux Quiogue of Eastwood City, Marissa Pe Yang of UST Atelier Alumni Association Inc., Raul Isidro, Elaine Antolin, Patrick Naval, and renowned artist Fil Delacruz.
Each rocking chair reflects the artistry and vision of alumni such as Fil Delacruz, Flor Baradi, Alice Bernados, Lemuel Blanco, Franklin Caña, Janos Delacruz, Maryrose Gisbert, Patrick Naval, Joey Ofludor, Nestor Perez Ong, Jo Rebustillo, Gean Sollestre, Vanessa Tria, and Melissa Villaseñor. Their works highlight the value of grandparents as pillars of love and tradition.
“This project holds a profound meaning not just for our malls, but for the communities we serve,” said Kux Quiogue, General Manager of Eastwood City. “By honoring our grandparents through both advocacy and art, Seated in Sentiment reminds us to cherish their legacy, respect their needs, and celebrate the timeless role they play in our lives.”
The exhibit will run at Eastwood Mall Atrium before traveling to other Megaworld Lifestyle Malls, including Uptown Bonifacio, McKinley Hill, Lucky Chinatown, San Lorenzo Place Mall, Southwoods Mall, and Twin Lakes, expanding its reach to more families.
Guests are invited to view the exhibition, support the cause, and celebrate the vital role of grandparents in shaping family and community life.
