SAFC, Pasig LGU provide aid to street children in need

SAFC in collaboration with Pasig LGU extended financial aid to Sagip Batampalengke, an organization saving street children.

Sagip Batampalengke is a non-governmental and nonprofit organization dedicated to helping hundreds of children in Pasig, mostly street children in public markets, receive education, free tutorials, school supplies, foods, and values formation.

(L-R) SAFC Strategic Communications Head Rob de Jesus, Sagip Batampalengke Vice President Leslie Bernardez, Sagip Batampalengke President Riah Bernardez, SAFC CSR Associate Raymond Perdigon, and Pasig City Councilor Marion Rosalio “Maro” Martires

Most of the children’s parents work as market vendors, garbage collectors, or street scavengers. They suffer child labor due to financial hardship—choosing between school and helping their families make ends meet.

The financial assistance provided by SAFC will allow Sagip Batampalengke to reach more children, offering them the mentorship and resources they need to break free from the cycle of poverty.

“SAFC’s support is a lifeline for many of the children we help,” said Riah Bernardez, Founder of Pasig Sagip Batampalengke.

Children line up for feeding program initiated by Sagip Batampalengke volunteers.

Recognizing this reality, SAFC, with the support of Pasig City Councilor Marion Rosalio “Maro” Martires, has provided financial aid to help Sagip Batampalengke continue its mission of nurturing young minds and giving them the opportunity for a better future.

“The success of Sagip Batampalengke and other programs for underprivileged children depends on the strength of collaborative efforts,” Marites said. “SAFC’s support demonstrates how corporate entities can be powerful allies in building a more progressive and compassionate city. We hope this partnership inspires more organizations to step forward and contribute to making Pasig a city that truly cares for its people.”

“At SAFC, we firmly believe that financial success is meaningful only when it is shared,” said Kevin John N. Cabanban, SAFC President and CEO. “This is why we are committed to extending our help beyond financial services and into the communities we serve. Supporting Sagip Batampalengke is part of our mission to build brighter tomorrows for Filipino families.”

This initiative is also aligned with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto’s goal of building a more inclusive and progressive city.

“Their generosity allows us to continue our work in educating and shaping young minds, providing them with hope and opportunities they might not have had otherwise.”

Councilor Maro Martires, a staunch advocate for children’s rights and education, highlighted the importance of partnerships between the government and the private sector in uplifting communities.

SAFC Heroes, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the company, uplifts communities through its Love Hero initiative, proving that true corporate success is measured not just in numbers but in the lives touched along the way.

The SAFC #Brighter2morrow2gether campaign further reinforces this mission by supporting institutions like Sagip Batampalengke. Under this campaign, SAFC aims to focus its CSR efforts to projects that will promote a better and brighter future of Filipino communities.
