“Wild Guess” sets tone for Ruel’s new album
Australian pop sensation Ruel returns with “Wild Guess,” a tender and stripped-back track now available via Giant Music. The song arrives as the third preview of his sophomore album, Kicking My Feet, due for release on October 17, 2025.
Co-written with Leroy Clampitt and Dan Wilson, and produced by the duo, “Wild Guess” brings a softer, folk-inspired approach that highlights Ruel’s emotional depth. The lyrics capture the unraveling of a relationship, moving from uncertainty to quiet acceptance. The chorus, where he sings of no longer being someone’s “baby,” reflects the bittersweet clarity of letting go.
“Wild Guess” will premiere on New Music Daily on Apple Music with a FaceTime interview alongside Zane Lowe. Fans can also pre-order Kicking My Feet now.
This release follows earlier singles “The Suburbs” and “I Can Die Now,” both of which marked a creative shift for Ruel. Relocating from Sydney to Los Angeles and signing with Giant Music gave him fresh energy to explore new sounds. He revealed that he wrote over 200 songs before finalizing the track list, working with acclaimed producers like Julian Bunetta, Joel Little, Kenny Beats, Dan Wilson, and longtime collaborator M-Phazes.
The upcoming album blends pop, alt, and R&B, offering an adventurous yet personal collection of songs. It signals Ruel’s evolution into a sharper, more liberated artist.
Now 22, Ruel has already amassed over three billion streams, sold out multiple world tours, and earned global recognition from artists like Elton John. His music continues to capture the complexities of youth and love, while his growing presence in fashion and media cements his influence beyond music.
With Kicking My Feet, Ruel steps confidently into his next chapter, offering fans a mix of honesty, vulnerability, and bold soundscapes.
