Australian pop star Ruel has announced his much-awaited sophomore album, Kicking My Feet, set for release on October 17 under Giant Music. The 22-year-old singer also dropped his new single, The Suburbs, now available on streaming platforms.
Written with Fran Hall, M-Phazes, Chelsea Lena, and Elias Danielsen, The Suburbs is a tender track about intimacy and longing for a simpler life. Ruel revealed the song during his Apple Music Radio takeover in Los Angeles, alongside two unreleased tracks.
Ruel described the track as his most vulnerable release yet. “It’s been pretty daunting to offer up this level of honesty in my songwriting but seeing the way it’s already connected so personally with fans has calmed my pre-album nerves in a huge way,” he said.
The album follows his single I Can Die Now, which premiered in Times Square and quickly gained over a million streams. With over 200 songs written for the project, Ruel handpicked tracks that reflect his growth, working with acclaimed producers such as Julian Bunetta, Joel Little, Kenny Beats, Dan Wilson, and longtime collaborator M-Phazes.
“Kicking My Feet” is set to mark a new era for Ruel, blending pop, alt, and R&B into a bold, genre-blurring sound. The album dives into themes of love, innocence, and youthful embarrassment while showcasing his matured artistry.
Having amassed over three billion streams, sold out world tours, and earned recognition from icons like Sir Elton John and Zane Lowe, Ruel continues to cement his place as one of pop’s most promising voices.
