Rubrik and Sophos have announced a strategic partnership to deliver Sophos M365 Backup and Recovery Powered by Rubrik. This new solution will be the first Managed Detection and Response (MDR)-optimized Microsoft 365 backup and recovery service integrated directly into Sophos Central.
The offering targets mid-market Sophos MDR and XDR customers, enabling them to protect and recover Microsoft 365 data from threats like ransomware, account compromise, insider attacks, and accidental deletion. It covers SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Teams.
According to Sophos CEO Joe Levy, the partnership combines Sophos’ prevention-focused approach with Rubrik’s advanced recovery capabilities to ensure operational continuity during cyber incidents. Rubrik CEO Bipul Sinha emphasized that recovery speed and reliability are essential in countering today’s AI-enabled and sophisticated attacks.
Key features include:
- Immutable backups with air-gapped storage, WORM locks, and customer-held encryption keys.
- Fast, flexible recovery to original or alternate users, even inactive accounts.
- Automated protection with Entra ID-based policies and delegated admin support.
- Unified management through Sophos Central with no extra tools needed.
Sophos’ State of Ransomware report shows that nearly half of ransomware-hit organizations pay the ransom, yet only 54% restore from backups. The partnership aims to close this gap, with Rubrik’s SaaS-based protection embedded into Sophos’ 350+ telemetry-integrated platform for threat detection and response.
The solution will be available via Sophos’ channel partner network in the coming months.
