Japanese singer-songwriter Rol3ert has released his latest single “say my name” worldwide on August 27 under Exciter Records and FRIENDSHIP. At 19 years old, Rol3ert continues to gain traction in Southeast Asia, with Indonesia leading his Spotify streams and the Philippines generating a strong following on YouTube.
The single introduces a new side to Rol3ert as his first alternative ballad. Co-produced with Yuto Uchino, vocalist of Japanese indie band The fin., the track blends weeping guitar riffs, live drums by Yusuke Okada of BROTHER SUN SISTER MOON, and shimmering synths. His near-crying vocals carry lyrics about life, death, symbolic love, and the weight of memory. Rol3ert calls the track one of his proudest works.
The music video premiered on August 27 at 10:00PM JST on YouTube, following his first Instagram Live in six months. It visually explores duality through two symbolic versions of Rol3ert, contrasting seaside light with an underground dark space.
Rol3ert is set to return to the stage for his second headline show “katachi” on February 27, 2026 at Shibuya WWW X. Tickets will be available starting August 30, 2025. His rise has been marked by a sold-out debut solo show “3mpty” in July and a performance at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL ’25. With “say my name,” Rol3ert embraces vulnerability and expands his reach to a wider global audience.
