RHEA Generics joins DOH and Mercury Drug in promoting affordable healthcare through Generics Awareness Month
RHEA Generics took part in the Generics Awareness Month celebration at Mercury Drug Q-Plaza in Cainta. The event, held with the Department of Health and Mercury Drug, promoted the theme “Ginhawang Generics, Ramdam ng Bawat Pilipino.” It focused on educating the public about the value of generic medicines and their role in making healthcare more accessible to Filipinos.
Health leaders, advocates, and community members gathered to highlight the affordability, effectiveness, and reliability of generics. The event addressed myths that generics are less effective, clarifying that they meet the same standards as branded medicines and deliver the same results.
The Department of Health, through a video message, reaffirmed its decades-long campaign for affordable and quality medicines under the Generics Act of 1988 and the Cheaper Medicines Act of 2008. It encouraged patients to ask doctors and pharmacists for generic equivalents, empowering communities to make informed health choices.
RHEA Generics Marketing Head, Giezel Jane Sarmiento, said the brand aims to change how people view generics. “We are helping redefine what generics truly mean — from being seen as ‘second choice’ to becoming the world-class and trusted choice. No Filipino should ever have to choose between health and livelihood,” she said.
The event also offered free clinics with health consultations, temperature checks, blood pressure monitoring, and screenings for blood sugar and cholesterol.
RHEA Generics remains a strong DOH partner in promoting the responsible use of generics. With its growing collaborations with global pharmaceutical companies, the brand continues to expand access to trusted, affordable medicines.
