Jennifer Hudson, Fortune Feimster and Jameela Jamil Join the Adventure in ‘Paw Patrol: the Dino Movie’

Jennifer Hudson, Fortune Feimster and Jameela Jamil voice three dinosaur-loving characters who join the pups on a new adventure that puts teamwork—and some very big prehistoric creatures—at the center of the story.

The PAW Patrol pups are heading into prehistoric territory.

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie opens in Philippine cinemas on August 26, bringing the rescue team to Dino Island alongside dinosaurs, new human adventurers and another mission that will require the pups to work together.

Joining the voice cast are Jennifer Hudson, Fortune Feimster and Jameela Jamil, playing three characters whose fascination with dinosaurs puts them right in the middle of the action.

Jennifer Hudson Becomes Reporter Lilian Ledes

Academy Award-winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson voices Lilian Ledes, a dinosaur-loving reporter who arrives on Dino Island and finds herself covering what could become the biggest story of her career.

Reporting on dinosaurs, however, quickly becomes more adventurous than expected.

Lilian eventually ends up on top of one of the prehistoric creatures, leaving the PAW Patrol to come to her rescue.

Hudson shared her excitement about joining a franchise that has remained popular with children and families, including her own son.

She also pointed to one of the qualities she appreciates about PAW Patrol: its emphasis on heroes, problem-solving and the idea that everyone has something valuable to contribute.

Fortune Feimster and Jameela Jamil Head to Dino Island

Fortune Feimster voices Eugenia Bunsen, while Jameela Jamil plays Heidi Pothesis.

The two characters arrive on Dino Island to study its extraordinary prehistoric inhabitants.

For Feimster, joining PAW Patrol also offered an unexpected connection between performer and animated character.

When she first saw Eugenia, Feimster said she noticed how the character’s curly blond hair and overall look appeared to capture something of her own personality and presence.

Jamil’s Heidi, meanwhile, works at the Paleontological Institute and uses her dinosaur expertise to help the pups understand the creatures they encounter.

Her enthusiasm eventually puts her a little too close to the action, leading to another rescue situation.

Why Teamwork Still Matters in PAW Patrol

For Jamil, part of PAW Patrol’s appeal comes from the way the stories give different characters opportunities to contribute rather than relying on a single hero.

The pups solve problems as a team, with each character bringing something different to the mission.

That idea becomes particularly important once the pups, scientists, reporters and dinosaurs find themselves facing the challenges of Dino Island together.

The result is another adventure built around a familiar PAW Patrol message: difficult situations are easier to solve when everyone works together.

Making the Dinosaurs Feel Believable

Director Cal Brunker, who returns to helm the latest PAW Patrol movie, had another challenge: making the dinosaurs convincing.

Brunker and the production team consulted dinosaur experts to better understand how the animals’ bones and muscles may have worked.

That information helped the animators create dinosaur movement designed to feel authentic and believable while remaining within the colorful animated world of PAW Patrol.

For Brunker, who is himself a dinosaur fan, the project also became an opportunity to learn more about prehistoric animals while developing the movie.

Marshall Gets His Own Spotlight

Fans can also get reacquainted with Marshall, the team’s energetic fire pup, through a dedicated featurette released ahead of the movie.

Marshall joins the rest of the pups as the adventure moves to Dino Island, where rescue missions take on a much larger scale thanks to their prehistoric new neighbors.

Backstreet Boys Join the Dino Adventure

The movie’s rollout also includes new music.

“Bottle Up,” performed by the Backstreet Boys and co-written by Ed Sheeran, has been released alongside an official music video and dance connected with the film.

A Bigger PAW Patrol Adventure

PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie is directed by Cal Brunker and written by Brunker and Bob Barlen.

The voice cast includes Carter Young, Mckenna Grace, Terry Crews, Meredith MacNeill, Ron Pardo, Jennifer Hudson, Hayden Chemberlen, Fortune Feimster, Jameela Jamil, Rain Janjua, Bill Nye, Paris Hilton, Lucien Duncan-Reid, William Desrosiers, Nylan Parthipan and Snoop Dogg, with Henry Bolan being introduced in the movie.

The film is a Paramount Animation and Spin Master Entertainment presentation and a Spin Master Entertainment production.

With dinosaurs joining the mix, the new movie expands the scale of the franchise while keeping its familiar themes of teamwork, problem-solving and helping others at the center.
