mWell, the digital healthcare arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), has officially introduced the mWell Health ID, the country’s first fully digital health identity. This new service allows Filipinos to carry their complete medical records on their phones through the mWell app.
The Health ID acts as a secure digital passport, containing medical history, prescriptions, lab results, vaccination records, and emergency contacts. Patients can share these details with doctors, hospitals, and clinics without paperwork. Built-in privacy controls ensure that users manage their data securely.
Manny V. Pangilinan, MPIC chairman, president, and CEO, called the initiative a vital step toward universal healthcare. “The mWell Health ID is a crucial step towards universal healthcare, which envisions allowing all Filipinos to move through their health journeys with security and peace of mind,” he said.
Chaye Cabal-Revilla, president and CEO of mWell, highlighted the impact on patient empowerment. “This innovation addresses the pain points of our citizens by driving accessibility, efficiency, and collaboration in our healthcare system. Our goal is to build a future where care is reliable, data-driven, and always within reach,” she said.
The Health ID speeds up registration at hospitals and clinics while eliminating repetitive form-filling. Doctors gain access to accurate medical histories, reducing duplicate tests and improving diagnoses. Dr. Raymond Sarmiento, mWell’s COO, noted, “By putting health records in the hands of every Filipino, we create stronger connections between patients and providers.”
Aligned with the Universal Health Care Act, the Health ID helps address fragmented medical records in the country. It also supports mWell’s broader digital health services, including KonsultaMD teleconsultations, e-prescriptions, and lab referrals.
mWell extends its reach to remote areas through projects like OnTheGo Clinic-In-A-Bag, drone medicine delivery, and BangkaHealth in Sulu. These innovations make healthcare more accessible to underserved communities.
As part of MPIC’s Gabay Kalusugan advocacy, mWell continues to support the UN Sustainable Development Goal of ensuring good health and well-being. The mWell app is available on the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
