Two decades of Luxury Gaming Experience were celebrated by the world-leading tech brand, MSI. This prestigious event took place on June 28-30, 2024. The first day was a private session for the brand’s partners and the media, while the second and third days were opened to the public.
A highlight of this event was a time-tunnel that chronicled the significant events that MSI experienced on the journey to become a leading brand in the laptop market. On display in this area were the actual laptop models, from the Inaugural MS-1003 Laptop launched in 2003 to the most recent collaboration with racing brand Mercedes-AMG, 2023’s Stealth 16 Mercedes-AMG Motorsport edition.
Visitors who registered were treated to an experience like no other, being able to play with the powerful laptops and be acquainted with their special features. When registering, they were given stamp passports that earned them a raffle entry upon completion.
Throughout the two-day event hosted by BeefMami, various MSI goodies were raffled and given away, from Lanyards and Brick Calendars to Drawstring Bags and Felting Desk Pads. There were also games being held while the attendees roamed around the area.
The most visited zones were the MSI Claw Zone, featuring MSI’s premium handheld gaming device, and the PLDT Home Booth, where the brand partnered with one of the top telco company for a Valorant, NBA2K24 and Tekken 8 game session using MSI Laptops.
The most awaited highlight for Day 1 was the Tekken Tournament. With a prize pool worth up to P20,000, 64 hopeful players attended the whole-day tournament. Everyone tuned in to cheer the players and witness some heart-pounding action in this tournament officially licensed by the Games and Amusements Board (GAB).
Taking the Grand prize of P12,000 cash plus various MSI Merchandise was Elijah Fernan Espera. Second and Third place was gained by John Stephen Danganan and Jomar Zeta, both getting P5,000 cash and P3,000 respectively plus MSI Merchandise.
Another highlight was the Meet and Greet with MSI Ambassadress Biancake. All registrants had a chance to see and talk to her in person. They were able to take pictures with Biancake and have their passports signed as well.
Biancake has long been a supporter of MSI, being one of the first influencers of the brand when it entered the Philippine market. This event was a treat for both old and new fans alike.
For Day 2, attendees noticed something different. There were lots of video game characters roaming around the venue. This was because of the day’s main event: the Cosplay Competition.
Twenty cosplayers from all over the metro joined the competition and it was a very colorful afternoon. They treated the audience with amazing skits of their characters and their performance was judged by prominent cosplayers Charess and Roxanne Kho, as well as cosplay crafter and veteran cosplayer EJ Quintos.
In the end, it was a classic character, Scorpion from Mortal Kombat, cosplayed by Ray Sta. Ana, who won the Grand Prize of P12,000 cash and MSI merchandise. Second Place was The Penitent One from Blasphemous, cosplayed by Guy Singzon, taking home P5,000 cash and MSI merchandise. Closing off the podium was Mokujin from Tekken, cosplayed by Charie Bagotsay, earning her P3,000 cash and MSI Merchandise.
The Cosplay Competition wasn’t the end of the excitement yet, as the attendees once again lined up for a Meet and Greet, this time with Charess & Roxanne Kho. It was a lucky day for the attendees as they were able to take pictures and converse with these two personalities at once.
Ongoing throughout the duration of the event was a special promotion in partnership with the MSI Concept Store SM North EDSA. Buyers during the event were treated to limited edition 20th Anniversary MSI Freebies as well as price drops and discounts. In addition to this, the first 20 buyers of any MSI Laptop got a Steam Wallet code worth USD$50.
This event was truly a celebration of the impact that MSI Laptops had on the industry. From releasing the first overclockable laptop exclusively for gamers in 2007 and even more world’s first developments, MSI is a brand that has always been on the cutting edge of innovation.
Today, the brand has expanded from focusing on just Gaming to also releasing products aimed at Business & Productivity as well as Content Creation. It has been an incredible 20 years of progress from MSI and we can’t wait what they have in store for the next 20 years and more.
