MOVE IT Motorcycle Taxi Safety Commitment Sets New Industry Benchmark
MOVE IT is changing how motorcycle taxis operate. The company introduced a Driver-Led, Tech-Reinforced Safety Commitment that combines strict rider standards and real-time safety tools.
At its Road Safety Dialogue, 31 MOVE IT rider communities signed the “Katuwang sa Kaligtasan sa Kalsada” pledge. The event reinforced that safety starts with trained, disciplined drivers.
Under the Pasado Bago Pasada framework, every rider passes through government clearance, motorcycle inspection, and continuous retraining. Only 60% of motorcycles pass the first inspection. Riders undergo skills testing and must retrain every six months. The program ensures consistent road readiness and performance.
MOVE IT also worked with Ateneo’s Bulatao Center to create a Behavioral Assessment Tool. It evaluates how riders handle stress and make decisions on the road. This science-based system ensures that rider conduct matches technical skill.
Technology strengthens this driver focus. With Grab as partner, MOVE IT introduced live trip monitoring, SOS functions, verification selfies, and AI-powered safety tools. Features like Overspeeding Alerts, Fatigue Nudges, and AudioProtect help prevent accidents and ensure accountability. AudioProtect, launching in late 2025, will record trip audio for better transparency and fairness.
Reports filed in-app get quick responses. A volunteer Emergency Response Unit reaches incidents within 30 minutes. All rides are insured through AIG and Cocolife.
MOVE IT General Manager Wayne Jacinto said, “Near-perfect isn’t the finish line. Leadership in safety means raising the bar every day.”
The Coalition for Filipino Commuters praised MOVE IT’s initiatives and called for official motorcycle taxi legalization.
MOVE IT’s mission is clear: safety as a shared responsibility, powered by training, technology, and transparency.
