Mondelēz International in the Philippines reinforced its #SustainableSnacking commitment through a coastal cleanup at Harbor View Front along Manila Bay. In partnership with Friends of HOPE, PCX Markets, the local government of Manila, and employee volunteers, the initiative tackled the pressing challenge of waste management in one of the country’s most polluted shorelines.
The activity gathered company employees and local volunteers, removing 60 kilograms of plastic and non-plastic waste. The collected plastics were processed through Friends of HOPE’s Aling Tindera program, a waste-to-cash initiative promoting plastic diversion from nature and offering livelihood opportunities to local communities.
Mondelēz International has been actively supporting the establishment of Aling Tindera collection hubs in Barangay BF Homes and SM City Sucat, ensuring accessible waste drop-off points and empowering women micro-entrepreneurs. In 2024, the company received the Plastic Cleanup Partner badge for exceeding compliance targets under the Extended Producer Responsibility law.
Corporate and Government Affairs Lead Caitlin Punzalan emphasized that these actions go beyond compliance. “It’s about building better systems, engaging our people, and making sustainability a part of our everyday culture,” she said.
