Inside the Minted MNL Year End Show and the rise of young collectors
Minted MNL gathered collectors, graders and new hobbyists at The Westin Manila for its Year End Show, a weekend filled with history, rare finds and the growing energy of young Filipino collectors . The event carried the theme A Heritage Reimagined, showing how collecting continues to evolve as more Filipinos explore numismatics as a lifestyle interest.

You saw 60 bourse tables, eight exhibits and 330 auction lots under one roof. The centerpiece was the Minted MNL Spotlight Auction with Moreton Auctions, where historic pieces reached impressive prices. One highlight was the Spanish Philippines 8 Reales that sold for 6.98 million pesos, a strong result that reflected growing demand for colonial era counterstamped coins. A 1977 5000 Piso Ang Bagong Lipunan gold piece also gained attention with a sale price of 1.46 million pesos, proving how scarce modern commemoratives remain attractive to serious collectors.
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas joined as an exhibitor for the first time. This gave visitors a direct connection to the country’s monetary heritage. Global graders PCGS, NGC, PMG and CGC also met collectors through the Manila Submission Center. Major auction houses like Stack’s Bowers and Heritage Auctions showed strong presence and signaled the Philippines’ rising visibility in the international market.

Young collectors shaped the energy of the show. The event catalog placed them at the center with the cover line Young Collectors on the Rise. Gaming corners, trading card booths and learning stations helped first timers understand collecting through hands on interaction. These simple entry points encouraged more Gen Z and millennial hobbyists to join the community.

Talks on Day 2 added depth. Guests learned about Melecio Figueroa’s artistry and the story behind commemorative gold coins. These sessions gave newer collectors the context they need to appreciate each piece beyond its price.
Minted MNL aims to keep the community growing. Their message stays simple. You preserve heritage when you collect with purpose. You shape the future when you share that passion with the next generation.
