Manny Pacquiao leads Team Philippines in Physical: Asia
Netflix has confirmed the return of its hit competition franchise with Physical: Asia, the first-ever nation-vs-nation edition of the global phenomenon. The eight-country showdown will bring together 48 elite athletes in October, with each team led by a national sports legend.
The Philippines will be represented by boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion in history. He will captain Team Philippines alongside five standout Filipino athletes: Fil-Am sambo fighter Mark Mugen, strongman Ray Jefferson Querubin, national rugby player Justin Coveney, national hurdler Robyn Lauren Brown, and crossfit athlete Lara Liwanag.
Joining Pacquiao on the international stage are other high-profile athletes: Robert Whittaker for Australia, Yushin Okami for Japan, Dong-hyun Kim for Korea, Superbon for Thailand, Orkhonbayar Bayarsaikhan for Mongolia, Recep Kara for Türkiye, and Igedz “Executioner” for Indonesia.
The series highlights the mix of athletic excellence and cultural heritage, including Korean ssireum, Mongolian wrestling, Turkish oil wrestling, and Muay Thai, alongside Olympic and professional-level sports.
Producer Jang Ho-gi shared that the new season will be more intense as the battles shift from individual survival to national pride. Each contest will test strength, endurance, and teamwork on a global scale, making the matches both emotional and unforgettable.
Physical: Asia will premiere this October, streaming exclusively on Netflix for audiences worldwide. With Pacquiao and Whittaker headlining, the series promises a clash of champions like never before.
