Manila Water received two Merit Awards at the 21st Philippine Quill Awards held at the Manila Hotel. Both Manila Water Foundation and the company’s Sustainability Team were honored for communication programs that advance public health and environmental stewardship.
Project Drink Pilipinas! by Manila Water Foundation earned recognition under the Corporate Social Responsibility category. The initiative promotes hydration for health and sustainability through the installation of over 400 refrigerated drinking fountains (RDFs) in public spaces, hospitals, parks, and campuses across Metro Manila. More than 752,987 individuals now have access to potable water, while the project also reduces plastic waste by encouraging the use of reusable tumblers and cups.
“Project Drink Pilipinas! calls on more partners and donors to bring refrigerated drinking fountains to more schools and public spaces. Together, we can promote hydration for health and care for the environment,” Manila Water Foundation Executive Director Rej Andal said.
The second Merit Award was given to the Sustainability Team’s Katubig Currents: Stories & Actions for a Sustainable Future under Sustainability Communications and Breakthroughs and Innovations. The initiative combines watershed restoration efforts through Pasibol: Puno ng Pag-asa and the internal storytelling platform Kwentong Katubig. It has already logged 1,600 volunteer hours, published 22 employee stories, and inspired employee-led sustainability innovations.
“Katubig Currents reflects the heart of our sustainability journey—empowering employees to be storytellers, changemakers, and stewards of our shared future,” Manila Water Sustainability Director Sarah Bergado said.
The Philippine Quill Awards, organized by the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Philippines, remains the country’s most prestigious recognition program for business communication excellence.
