The Love Bus is back on Philippine roads, offering free rides in Cebu and Davao to ease the burden of daily commutes.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) relaunched the program on Friday, aiming to cut transport costs for commuters and support local drivers through the Service Contracting Program.
In Davao City, eight Love Buses now serve the UM Matina–Mintal route during peak hours. About 3,360 passengers are expected to benefit every day, while 32 drivers and operators receive financial aid from the government. Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon said the initiative could help 6,000 commuters save up to ₱350 daily.
Cebu’s rollout covers the Talisay City–Cebu City route with 11 buses. More than 2,462 commuters and 44 drivers benefit each day. This follows the earlier July launch along the Urgello–Parkmall route, which has already carried almost 650,000 passengers.
Free rides run from 6:00 to 9:00 AM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM daily. First introduced in the 1970s, the Love Bus now returns with free rides and wider coverage to serve Filipinos once more.
